Along the Track – September 2026

As we await budburst and the start of the 2027 vintage, we thought we would bring some exciting news. Well, we think it is exciting! Our online shop is now live on the website.
Given this is our first vintage, we have limited the amount of wine which can be ordered, so don’t wait.

As one season finishes in the vineyard and we think about preparing for the following one, it is always tempting to assume (or hope!) that winter will be a little more relaxed. It never works out that way. The constant challenge of finding dry days to get the pruning done is over though and we are just pulling the remaining canes out of the trellising and rows in preparation for budburst.
The weather has been relatively mild this year and it looks like we will get an early budburst – perhaps within the next week or two, which is better than last year’s very late start.
In even better news, the winter has been quite wet. We have almost had the average annual rainfall for our site to this stage of the year. Our soil is fully re-charged, the underwater springs started 2 months before normal and the dam overflowed 6 weeks before we would normally expect it.

With three vintages now in the winery or cellar we have decided now is the time to introduce our 2024 to the market. But first, an update on the 2025 and 2026 vintages. The 2025 vintage is bottled and in the cellar – we are very happy with how things are coming along and still plan to release it in September next year. As we let you know in the last update, the 2026 vintage was very small and impacted by the late season frost. What we do have is in barrel as a Sparkling Base, so far so good for it too.
Before releasing the 2024 vintage for public sale we wanted to get a little momentum with some local venues and were lucky enough to have a number of them take the product. If you are around the Macedon Ranges, please drop by Du Fermier, Winespeake, Woodend Cellar and Bar or Adeline to try it out. The feedback to date has been great. After many years of hard work Emma completed her PhD recently so we took ourselves to Malaysia and Singapore to celebrate. While always too short, it was a great trip with a mix of relaxing, walking, culture and nature.
Tess is doing well at her new sport of choice (Roller derby) while Sam and the team at Melbourne University Racing are very close to testing the 2026 racing car before competitions in December.
